Smith House Cultural Properties
The Cultural Properties Collection, Smith House Collection consists of objects that are part of the built environment or were acquired, created, collected, or commissioned by Melvyn or Sara Smith, or their son Robert Smith, for the purposes of use or exhibit within or on the grounds of their residence near Cranbrook, Smith House. This collection also includes the personal effects of the Smiths, including, but not limited to, surviving clothing, jewelry, and accessories with an emphasis on the period Melvyn and Sara lived in Smith House (1950 to 1994). This collection also includes items acquired or created for the interpretation of Smith House as a public house museum owned by Cranbrook Educational Community (2017 to present).
