Detroit Collection
The Detroit Collection includes works of art produced in the twentieth and twentyfirst centuries by artists, architects, and designers who reside or were once residents of the metropolitan Detroit area and, in particular, the City of Detroit, or works by non-resident artists, architects, or designers whose specific content or subject matter directly relates to the Detroit area, for instance, its people and
places. As metropolitan areas tend to change over time, the geographical definition should keep pace with official designations made by State and Federal governments. At this time, the Detroit Collection would encompass a geographic region that includes the cities of Detroit, Hamtramck, Highland Park, Dearborn, Flint, and Pontiac, as well as those cities found in the immediate Metro Detroit counties of Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb.
